The Goldring 1006 moving magnet cartridge is our favourite mid-priced cartridge. Combining the high output of moving magnet with the delicacy and refinement of the best higher end moving coils, this is a cake-and-eat-it-too cartridge. It allows you to use a relatively affordable low-noise moving magnet phono stage which is inherently less noisy than moving coil, while benefiting from the hifi characteristics of the best moving coils - extended treble, extremely broad soundstage and outright realism. Compatible with an extremely wide range of tonearms, it is simply a joy to use and enjoy. Also, unlike moving coils, it features a replaceable stylus and stylus guard for long term satisfaction and utility.
